Recap: Wesleyan Wolves vs. Calvary Day Cavaliers
The Wesleyan Wolves and the Calvary Day Cavaliers squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Wesleyan Wolves had to settle for second. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 42-21 walloping at the hands of the Cavaliers. Wesleyan's loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.
Wesleyan's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jamie Tremble, who picked up 105 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and Ben Brown who threw for 234 yards and three touchdowns. Brown is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last five games he's played.
Even if they lost, Wesleyan's defensive line still kept up the pressure with four sacks. In that department, Connor Roush was the leader with two sacks.
Jake Merklinger continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Calvary Day, rushing for 80 yards and three touchdowns, while also throwing for 341 yards and two touchdowns while completing 73.1% of his passes. Michael Smith also helped out with an impressive 99 receiving yards.
Wesleyan's loss dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Calvary Day, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 13-0.
Wesleyan does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Calvary Day will face off against Cedar Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Cedar Grove is ranked 39th, while Calvary Day is ranked 29th).
