Football Game Preview: Lely Trojans vs. Bonita Springs Bullsharks

Lely is a perfect 3-0 against Bonita Springs since October of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Trojans will head out to face off against the Bullsharks at 7:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Lely is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Naples just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 38-24 bruising from the Golden Eagles. Despite 75 more yards than the Golden Eagles, the Trojans couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Brady Quinn, who threw for 240 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 46 yards. 132 of Quinn's passing yards were hauled in by Ty Collins, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Meanwhile, Bonita Springs fell victim to Barron Collier and their airtight defense last Friday. They had to suffer through a 47-0 loss at the hands of the Cougars. The Bullsharks have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Lely's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Bonita Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Everything came up roses for Lely against Bonita Springs in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 56-21 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
