Softball Recap: Fernley Finds Playoff Glory Versus Churchill County

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Fernley walked away with it. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Churchill County Greenwave on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Vaqueros.

Janessa Robinson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on eight hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Taylor Tollestrup was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last 26 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Lyle, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Fernley's record is now 31-11. As for Churchill County, they moved to 23-12 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Fernley beat the Greenwave by a score of 4-2 later that day.
