Basketball Recap: Key West Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Key West can now relate to. They were just a bucket shy of victory on Monday and fell 51-50 to the South Miami Cobras. The Conchs' loss continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Key West lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Tramane Scott, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 20 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Scott a new career-high in assists (three). Another player making a difference was David Aviles, who went 10 for 15 en route to 21 points and six boards.

Key West's defeat dropped their record down to 9-12. As for South Miami, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-13.

Key West does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for South Miami, they and Northwestern will meet in a classic North v. South matchup on Wednesday. Northwestern will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something South Miami surely won't give up without a fight.
