Football Recap: Cyntarion James' Menacing Defense Leads Hunt over Rocky Mount

Rocky Mount came into Friday's contest looking for another win against Hunt, but Doryan Jones wouldn't allow it. The Warriors put the hurt on the Gryphons with a sharp 30-9 win on Friday thanks in part to Jones, who rushed for 194 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 10.2 yards per carry. He showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 60 yards.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Hunt's defense and their six sacks. It was truly a group effort as Cyntarion James, Judah Harris, and CJ Dickerson picked up two apiece. With that strong performance, James is now averaging an impressive 7 total tackles per game. Trevorus Cooper was another major factor on D, making 17 total tackles (4.0 for loss).

Hunt's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Rocky Mount, the defeat snapped their winning streak at seven games and leaves them with a 7-2 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Hunt will venture away from home to take on Fike at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors will be up against the Golden Demons' rather soft defense (which has allowed 35.67 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Rocky Mount, they are taking a road trip to square off against Northern Nash at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Knights will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Gryphons surely won't give up without a fight.
