Volleyball Recap: Battle Mountain Comes Up Short

Battle Mountain entered their contest against Fountain-Fort Carson on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Huskies fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 3-2. While the Huskies didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Trojans 25-18 in the first set.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Fountain-Fort Carson scored at least ten points in every set. The final score came out to 18-25, 25-18, 25-18, 24-26, 15-10.

Despite the defeat, Battle Mountain saw an underclassman step up: freshman Riley Jennings had 12 digs and three aces. Those 12 digs set a new season-high mark for Jennings.

Battle Mountain's loss dropped their record down to 14-2. As for Fountain-Fort Carson, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-7.

Coincidentally, Battle Mountain and Fountain-Fort Carson will both be playing Denver East the next time they take the court. The Huskies will head out to face the Angels at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Trojans will play them later in the day, at 1:00 p.m.
