The Cajon Cowboys will face off against the Citrus Valley Blackhawks at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Cajon barely beat Redlands the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cowboys never let the Terriers get on the board and left with an 8-0 win on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Cowboys, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Jaden Carpenter, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Caleb Koster, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Citrus Valley had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Bruins as they made off with a 14-0 victory. With that win, the Blackhawks brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Citrus Valley let Robert Seeley and Nathan Castillo run wild. Seeley went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run, while Castillo got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Citrus Valley is 6-1 when Castillo posts two or more runs, but 8-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristan Garcia-Rojas, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Citrus Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bloomington didn't got any hits.
Citrus Valley's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-10. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Cajon, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-6.
Cajon couldn't quite get it done against Citrus Valley when the teams last played on April 1st as they fell 10-6. Will the Cowboys have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
