Soccer Game Preview: Alexander vs. McClain

The Alexander Spartans will challenge the McClain Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams beat their previous opponents by a single goal, so this matchup might be just as contested.

Alexander is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Hillsboro 2-1. Given Alexander's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio soccer rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while Hillsboro are ranked 301st) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Eliza Blaney was the driving force of Alexander's attack as she scored both of Alexander's goals, bringing her season total up to 14 goals.

Wheelersburg typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday McClain proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Pirates, sneaking past 2-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for McClain.

Alexander's win bumped their record up to 15-3-1. As for McClain, their victory bumped their record up to 15-2-2.

Alexander skirted past McClain 2-1 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
