Basketball Recap: Louisburg Takes a Loss

After some red-hot attacks on offense in their last three games, Louisburg finally came back down to earth on Friday. They were outmatched by the Southern School of Energy and Sustainability Spartans and fell 64-21. The loss continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now lost five in a row.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was RYANNE ARRINGTON, who posted six points and five boards. ARRINGTON is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was CHLOE ARRINGTON, who had nine points.

Even though they lost, Louisburg smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in eight consecutive matches.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Southern School of Energy and Sustainability to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jakayla Palmer, who went 5-for-7 to rack up 14 points in addition to eight assists and eight rebounds. What's more, Palmer also posted a 71% shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in February of 2024. Aliyah Herndon was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 16 points and nine boards.

Louisburg's defeat dropped their record down to 14-9. As for Southern School of Energy and Sustainability, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season.

Louisburg wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 61-45 win against J.F. Webb on the 17th. Southern School of Energy and Sustainability has also already played their next match (against Granville Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
