Basketball Recap: Braham Falls to East Central in First Game of Season

Braham had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell 83-74 to the East Central Eagles. The Bombers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March.

Garett Lidke and Tyler Eklund certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Lidke dropped a double-double with 24 points and 14 rebounds, while Eklund almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine assists. Eklund's big performance that evening made it 18 games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic Nahl, who posted nine points.

East Central's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ben Carlin, who almost dropped a double-double with 21 points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Xavior Letexier, who shot 44% from the field en route to 27 points.

Braham will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Upsala at 2:30 p.m. on January 2, 2026. As for East Central, they will take on Ogilvie at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
