Volleyball Recap: Hanahan Takes a Loss

If Hanahan was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Battery Creek on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hawks came up short against the Oceanside Collegiate Academy Landsharks on Thursday, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Landsharks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 on September 9th.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-14, 25-14.

Ella Spagnolia paced Hanahan's offense, picking up five kills. Spagnolia got some help from Juliette Owens and her 12 assists. Owens also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Makenna Gallus, each putting up two.

Hanahan's loss dropped their record down to 8-11-2. As for Oceanside Collegiate Academy, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-1.

Looking ahead, Hanahan will host Orangeburg-Wilkinson at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Oceanside Collegiate Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Pickens on the 26th.
