Preview: Putnam Clippers vs. Lyman Memorial Bulldogs
The Putnam Clippers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lyman Memorial Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Putnam has now lost 12 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 27.
Last Wednesday, Putnam ended up a good deal behind Tourtellotte and lost 37-18. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Putnam has scored all season.
In what's become a running theme this season, Lyman Memorial gave their fans yet another huge win on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 49-26 margin over Westbrook. The victory was just what Lyman Memorial needed coming off of a 71-36 loss in their prior matchup.
Lyman Memorial can attribute much of their success to Jenny Lopez, who almost dropped a triple-double on nine points, ten rebounds, and ten assists, and Makayla Piaseczny, who scored 20 points along with two steals and two blocks. Lopez is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Phoebe Carpenter, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and three steals.
Putnam's loss was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Lyman Memorial, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.
Putnam suffered a grim 58-35 defeat to Lyman Memorial in their previous meeting back in January. Will Putnam have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
