Preview: Weaver Beavers vs. Hartford Public Owls
Weaver and Hartford Public are an even 4-4 against one another since February of 2015, but not for long. The Weaver Beavers will head out on the road to face off against the Hartford Public Owls at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Weaver's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
In what's become a running theme this season, Weaver gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat CREC [Computer Science and Engineering/Academy of Aerospace and Engineering] 82-41 on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Weaver has posted yet this season.
Weaver got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ja'kai Perry out in front who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Perry has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mahari Taylor, who scored 13 points along with five assists and three steals.
Meanwhile, Hartford Public's six-game losing streak came to an end on Thursday. They blew past Achievement First, posting a 91-60 victory at home. Hartford Public's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Weaver pushed their record up to 7-2 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 83.0 points per game. As for Hartford Public, their win ended a 11-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-10.
Weaver took their victory against Hartford Public in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 by a conclusive 67-43. The rematch might be a little tougher for Weaver since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
