Baseball Recap: Perkins Now 7-2 over Last Nine Games

Perkins posted their closest victory since April 1st on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Columbian Tornadoes 5-3. This was a revenge game for the Pirates: when they faced off against the Tornadoes on April 9th, they had to take a 4-3 defeat.

Braxden Martin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since April 1st. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bryce Davie, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Carter Koch also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

Perkins is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for Columbian, their loss was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-8.

Perkins has already played their next match, a 10-0 victory against Sandusky on the 30th. As for Columbian, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 8-5 defeat against Bellevue on the 30th.
