Softball Recap: Brazos Makes It Three in a Row at Home

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against East Bernard, Brazos was happy to have turned things around on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Hitchcock Bulldogs a 3-0 shutout. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Not much got past Ava Aguilar, who gave up just two hits and racked up ten Ks to keep Hitchcock off the board. With that strong performance, Aguilar is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kendall Macha, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Duran, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Brazos pushed their record up to 7-15-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Hitchcock, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-7 record this season.

Brazos will take on Boling at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Hitchcock, they will welcome Van Vleck at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Leopards have averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season.
