Soccer Game Preview: West Charlotte vs. Berry

West Charlotte hasn't had much luck against Berry recently, but that could start to change on Monday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as West Charlotte take on Berry at 6:00 p.m. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.

West Charlotte is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to four goals on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Hopewell on Thursday. They lost 9-0 to the Titans. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 399th, while the Titans are ranked 143rd).

Meanwhile, Berry fell victim to Ardrey Kell and their airtight defense on Thursday. They came up short against the Knights, falling 9-0. That's two games in a row now that the Cardinals have lost by exactly nine goals.

Berry's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-5. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three matchups. As for West Charlotte, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8-1.
