Soldotna is a perfect 10-0 against Homer since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Stars will host the Mariners at 6:00 p.m. Homer took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Soldotna, who comes in off a win.
Soldotna is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Grace Christian on Saturday as they made off with a 16-1 victory. The Stars haven't had any issues with the Grizzlies recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Brenden Theel made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Matthew Schilling, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Soldotna's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 3-0-2 (and 1-9 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Easton Hawkins, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Homer faced Kodiak in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Mariners fell 3-0 to the Bears. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Mariners were not able to get on the board.
Weston Marley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Homer saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayden Simms, who went 2-for-3 with one double. That double was Simms' first of the season.
Homer's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Soldotna, their victory bumped their record up to 4-9-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Soldotna has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Homer struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Soldotna took their win against Homer when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 19-6 score. Do the Stars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mariners turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
