Softball Recap: Meyersdale Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Claysburg-Kimmel, Meyersdale was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Rockwood Rockets with a sharp 15-5 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Red Raiders also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Jessica Daughton and Isabella Sleasman did most of the damage at the plate: Daughton went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run and six RBI, while Sleasman got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Sleasman a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kendell Donaldson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Meyersdale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .618. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rockwood only posted an OBP of .346.

Meyersdale pushed their record up to 2-1 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Rockwood, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Meyersdale will square off against North Star at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Rockwood, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Everett at 4:30 p.m. on the 14th.
