Baseball Recap: Little Rock Southwest Snaps 18-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Little Rock Southwest's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They blew past the Hot Springs Trojans 12-3. This was a revenge game for the Gryphons: when they faced off against the Trojans back in March, they had to take a 11-0 defeat.

Donta King made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Little Rock Southwest let Aj Vernon and Adrian Martin run wild. Vernon got on base in three of his five plate appearances with five stolen bases and three runs, while Martin went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave Martin a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Davion King, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Little Rock Southwest kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Little Rock Southwest's win ended an 18-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-17. As for Hot Springs, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-13-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Little Rock Southwest will take on Conway at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hot Springs, they will venture away from home to square off against El Dorado at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
