Basketball Recap: Moffat Piles Up the Points Against Lake City

A well-balanced attack led Moffat over Lake City in every quarter on their way to victory on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Moffat Cowboys blew Lake City out of the water with a 51-12 final score. The Cowboys have beaten Lake City the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest Lake City has come to flipping the script.

Moffat was led to victory by Kandra Pollard and Shauna Pollard. Kandra dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards, while Shauna dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten steals. Kandra has become a key player for Moffat: the team is 2-1 when she posts at least ten rebounds, but 4-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Aurora Pesqueira, who posted seven points in addition to seven steals and five boards.

Moffat smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive matches.

Moffat's win bumped their record up to 6-10. As for Lake City, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Creede the next time they take the court. Moffat will head out to face Creede at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Lake City will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on February 21st.
