Softball Game Preview: Saratoga Central Catholic Saints vs. Maple Hill Wildcats

The Saratoga Central Catholic Saints will face off against the Maple Hill Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Saratoga Central Catholic is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.

Saratoga Central Catholic managed to slip by Hoosick Falls the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Saints lost 9-3 to the Panthers on Wednesday. The Saints have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Saratoga Central Catholic saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grace Schaefer, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Maple Hill waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They walked away with a 7-2 win over the Falcons.

Madison Camadine spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Olivia Mueller was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That stolen base was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Amalya LaPlante, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Saratoga Central Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Maple Hill, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 6-3.

Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Saratoga Central Catholic hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .348. However, it's not like Maple Hill struggles in that department as they've averaged .367. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Saratoga Central Catholic beat Maple Hill 6-3 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Saints repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
