Basketball Game Preview: Penobscot Valley Howlers vs. Dexter Tigers

The Penobscot Valley Howlers are taking a road trip to square off against the Dexter Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Penobscot Valley has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with three straight defeats, while Dexter will come in with three straight victories.

On Wednesday, Penobscot Valley was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 36-31 to Penquis Valley. The game marked the Howlers' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Meanwhile, Dexter took their contest last Wednesday with ease, bagging a 64-34 win over Central. That's two games straight that the Tigers have won by exactly 30 points.

Dexter's win came from a few key players Penobscot Valley will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Bryce Cooper, who went 8 for 13 on his way to 16 points and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kody Kimball, who went 5 of 6 on his way to 12 points in addition to seven steals and five assists.

Dexter was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January.

Dexter's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Penobscot Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Penobscot Valley was able to grind out a solid win over Dexter in their previous meeting back in February, winning 34-24. The rematch might be a little tougher for Penobscot Valley since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
