Softball Recap: American Canyon Takes a Loss

American Canyon extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 8-8 in the process. They lost 11-3 to the Northgate Broncos. The Wolves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Broncos apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Deja Montgomery was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs.

As for Northgate, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 5-6 record. The result was nothing new for the Broncos, who have now won five matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

On Northgate's side, Mackenzie Hudson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits. Hudson has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Taelyn Jriyasetapong was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Addison Baxter, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, American Canyon will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Casa Grande at 4:00 p.m. The Gauchos' pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so the Wolves' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Northgate, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 9-3 defeat against College Park on the 17th.
