Basketball Recap: St. Vincent de Paul Academy Comes Up Short

St. Vincent de Paul Academy fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Chesterton Academy of St. Philip Neri on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 70-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chesterton Academy of St. Philip Neri Crusaders. The defeat continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with the Crusaders: they've now lost three in a row.

Despite the loss, St. Vincent de Paul Academy still got an impressive performance from George Spencer, who posted 22 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic Dubay, who earned six points along with five boards and three steals.

Chesterton Academy of St. Philip Neri got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jimmy Schleeter out in front who scored 24 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Schleeter has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Joachim Burton was another key player, putting up 22 points and three steals.

St. Vincent de Paul Academy's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Chesterton Academy of St. Philip Neri, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2.

St. Vincent de Paul Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 48-32 win against Academie Lafayette on the 6th. As for Chesterton Academy of St. Philip Neri, they are taking a road trip to challenge Guadalupe Centers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chesterton Academy of St. Philip Neri is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.9 points per game this season.
