Baseball Game Preview: Cholla Chargers vs. Sahuarita Mustangs

The Cholla Chargers will face off against the Sahuarita Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Cholla 3, Sahuarita 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Sahuarita will be up against a hot Cholla team: the squad just extended their winning streak to five. The Chargers came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against Marana. Those two runs were actually the fewest the Chargers have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Raymond Molina spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit.

At the plate, Cholla saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carlos Alvarez, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Sahuarita suffered their closest loss since April 18, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of Nogales by a score of 5-3. The Mustangs haven't had much luck with the Apaches recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Cholla pushed their record up to 9-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Sahuarita, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-3-1.
