Softball Recap: Exeter Wins Going Away Against Summit Charter Collegiate Academy

Exeter had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Summit Charter Collegiate Academy on Saturday. Exeter put the hurt on Summit Charter Collegiate Academy with a sharp 10-2 win. Considering the Monarchs have won three matches by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Chloe Sparrow spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Avery Hupp was a standout: she scored three runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Lanie Uruchurtu was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Exeter is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. Summit Charter Collegiate Academy's defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-4.

Exeter wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 3-1 win against Strathmore on the 29th. As for Summit Charter Collegiate Academy, they will challenge Corcoran at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
