Softball Game Preview: Alhambra Lions vs. Central Bobcats

For the second straight game, Alhambra will face off against Central. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Alhambra Lions duke it out with Central Bobcats at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.

Alhambra is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by an 18-4 margin over Central on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Lions considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

Miranda Rodriguez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Rodriguez was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Alhambra let Lillyana Reyes and Deidrea Tree run wild. Reyes scored four runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Tree went 2-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Amelia Garcia, who scored a run and stole four bases while going 2-for-4.

Alhambra always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Alhambra's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-6. As for Central, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.
