Baseball Recap: Cannon County Wins Going Away Against Grundy County

Cannon County not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 28th (when they won 12-5). They blew past the Grundy County Yellowjackets 8-2. The victory continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Yellowjackets: they've now won seven in a row.

Cannon County got a great performance from Landon Smith as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over 4.1 innings pitched. Smith also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Lions are 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 8-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Cannon County let Bennett Kauffman and Jon Bryson run wild. Kauffman got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI, while Bryson went 3-for-4 with three runs and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Bryson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Andrew Alexander, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

The win got Cannon County back to even at 10-10. As for Grundy County, they dropped their record down to 5-19 with the loss, which was their tenth straight on the road.

As of now, neither Cannon County nor the Yellowjackets have any future games scheduled.
