Baseball Game Preview: Foundation Academy Lions vs. Montverde Academy Eagles

The Foundation Academy Lions will square off against the Montverde Academy Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Foundation Academy's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Montverde Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Montverde Academy will be up against a hot Foundation Academy squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Lions came out on top against Mount Dora Christian Academy by a score of 6-3 on Friday.

Foundation Academy got a massive performance out of Joshua Ojeda, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. That's the most hits Ojeda has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Salvati, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Montverde Academy took on Lake Minneola on Wednesday. The Eagles came up short against the Hawks, falling 9-2. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Eagles couldn't push the score so high this time.

Tyler Severs was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk).

Foundation Academy's win bumped their record up to 18-7. As for Montverde Academy, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-8.

Tuesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Foundation Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .439. However, it's not like Montverde Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .442. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Foundation Academy took their victory against Montverde Academy in their previous matchup back in February by a conclusive 9-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
