The Inglemoor Vikings will head out to take on the Bellevue Wolverines at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Inglemoor is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
Inglemoor was handed a eight-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Saturday. They won by a run and slipped past Liberty 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Vikings have posted since March 22, 2024.
Levi Stark tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Benjamin Barnes, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Rocco Suarez, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Bellevue didn't have quite enough to beat Juanita on Friday and fell 6-5. The Wolverines have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Bellevue also got a good showing from Mateo Salazar, who tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
At the plate, Bellevue saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jessie Gonzalez, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Eli Auten was another, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
Inglemoor has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. Bellevue's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Inglemoor has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .440. However, it's not like Bellevue struggles in that department as they've averaged .449. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Inglemoor beat Bellevue 6-3 in their previous matchup back in March of 2017. The rematch might be a little tougher for Inglemoor since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
