Basketball Recap: Collegiate Takes a Loss

Collegiate lost against Arkansas City back in January of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Collegiate Spartans were dealt a 65-32 defeat at the hands of the Arkansas City Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 220th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 32nd).

Arkansas City's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Savannah Phillips, who went 6 for 10 on her way to 19 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kierslynn Waggoner, who went 5 of 8 en route to 13 points.

Collegiate's loss dropped their record down to 4-6-1. As for Arkansas City, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-1.

Collegiate has already played their next matchup (against Conway Springs), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Arkansas City wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 51-42 victory against Mulvane on the 1st.
