Softball Recap: Indian Valley Takes a Loss

Indian Valley extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 6-7 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Newcomerstown Trojans. That's two games in a row now that the Braves have lost by exactly two runs.

Shelby Gossett spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Heavenlee Pall was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As for Newcomerstown, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since April 24, 2024.

On Newcomerstown's side, the team relied heavily on Larissa Stull, who went 2-for-3 with one home run. That home run was Stull's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Kellish, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Indian Valley will take on Dover at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Newcomerstown, they will challenge Malvern at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Trojans are facing the Hornets at the right time seeing as the Hornets are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
