Basketball Game Preview: Schuyler Warriors vs. Aurora Huskies

Schuyler hasn't had much luck against Aurora recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Schuyler Warriors will take on the Aurora Huskies at 3:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Schuyler is headed into Saturday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Friday. They were dealt a 58-19 loss at the hands of Central City. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 188th, while the Bison are ranked 48th).

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 54-27, which was the final score in Aurora's tilt against Northwest on Tuesday. The Huskies have struggled against the Vikings recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Schuyler will have to keep a close watch on Kenna Merrihew and Hannah Janda, a pair of players who had a big impact on Aurora's prior game. Merrihew almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine boards, while Janda posted nine points and six rebounds. Those nine points gave Janda a new career-high.

Schuyler's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Aurora, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.

Schuyler took a serious blow against Aurora when the teams last played back in January, falling 59-18. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Merrihew, who went 6 for 12 on her way to 13 points in addition to eight rebounds and six steals.
