Basketball Recap: Independence Patriots vs. Butler Bulldogs
Independence was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 18th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Butler Bulldogs, falling 71-18. The Patriots were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 54-11.
Hannah Moss was her usual excellent self, going 8 for 16 on her way to 20 points in addition to seven boards and seven steals for Butler. Moss is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Chloe Ross, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.
Independence's loss dropped their record down to 0-17. As for Butler, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-1.
Independence will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Charlotte Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on January 28th. As for Butler, they will take on Garinger at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th. Butler is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65.7 points per game this season.
