Preview: Mount Si Wildcats vs. Jackson Timberwolves

Mount Si is on a 29-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Jackson is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Mount Si Wildcats will take on the Jackson Timberwolves at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Mount Si's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 17 contests.

Mount Si can now show off 17 landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They blew past North Creek 90-55 at home. Given Mount Si's advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while North Creek is ranked 110th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mount Si's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Latt Ford led the charge by dropping a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Trevor Hennig, who scored 21 points along with five assists and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Jackson narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Skyline 53-50.

Jackson got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ryan Mcferran out in front who dropped a double-double on ten points and 21 rebounds. Mcferran has been hot recently, having posted ten or more rebounds the last ten times he's played. Colby Cooke was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five rebounds.

Mount Si is on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 21-2 record this season. As for Jackson, their win bumped their record up to 15-7.

This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Mount Si have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Jackson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 38.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Everything went Mount Si's way against Jackson in their previous meeting back in February of 2020 as Mount Si made off with a 57-36 victory. Will Mount Si repeat their success, or does Jackson have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
