Volleyball Recap: Fort Payne Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Fort Payne was the 3-1 winner over Southside when they last played one another back in September, but their luck changed this time around. The Wildcats fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Southside scored at least 11 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-23, 23-25, 23-25, 15-11.

Lydie Varnadore paced Fort Payne's offense, picking up 21 kills. Varnadore got some help from Ally Chadwick and her 23 assists. Carley Cash and Aubri Troxtel kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.

Fort Payne's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 38-13. As for Southside, they pushed their record up to 18-12 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Fort Payne will challenge Valley Head at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Southside, they will host Pell City at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
