Baseball Game Preview: Pittsburg Pirates vs. Liberty Lions

The Pittsburg Pirates will square off against the Liberty Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pittsburg's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so Liberty's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Pittsburg's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Thursday's struggle, when Heritage hitters got past them. The Pirates lost 19-4 to the Patriots on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Pirates have suffered since March 20, 2024.

JJ Robinson was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Santino Valle, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run.

Liberty played against Deer Valley on Thursday and won via forfeit.

Liberty has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Pittsburg, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-3.

Pittsburg beat Liberty 6-1 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
