Baseball Game Preview: Timberlake Christian Tornadoes vs. Westover Christian Academy Bulldogs

The Timberlake Christian Tornadoes will head out on the road to take on the Westover Christian Academy Bulldogs at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Timberlake Christian comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Timberlake Christian fell victim to Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 21-0 to the Ospreys. The match marked the first time this year in which the Tornadoes were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 14 runs the game before, Westover Christian Academy was a bit more limited in their game on Monday. They came up short against Roanoke Valley Christian, falling 13-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their meetings with the EAGLES: they've now lost three in a row.

Westover Christian Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Silas Zeidler, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run. Zeidler is becoming a predictor of the Bulldogs' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 3-1 (and 1-5 when he doesn't).

Westover Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Timberlake Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-12.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Timberlake Christian has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Westover Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Timberlake Christian might still be hurting after the 14-4 loss they got from Westover Christian Academy in their previous meeting on Tuesday. Can the Tornadoes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
