Menlo School proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by three) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Notre Dame Tigers 3-2. Winning may never get old, but the Knights sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
If you add up the scores from across all five sets (105-97) Menlo School actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The final score came out to 25-19, 26-24, 13-25, 18-25, 15-12.
Menlo School was led to victory by Ava Wang and Allison Yu. Wang had 33 digs, while Yu had 18 assists and nine digs. Wang has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last eight times she's played.
Despite the defeat, Notre Dame had strong showings from Piper Ventura, who had 22 digs and four assists, and Adrianna Chu, who had four digs and two aces.
Menlo School's victory bumped their record up to 11-16. As for Notre Dame, their loss dropped their record down to 19-10.
Menlo School has already played their next match, a 3-1 defeat against Harker on the 23rd. As for Notre Dame, they will square off against Crystal Springs Uplands at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
