Preview: Moore County Raiders vs. Summertown Eagles

The Moore County Raiders will head out on the road to face off against the Summertown Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Moore County couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell 55-44 to Cascade on Friday.

Summertown has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 20 points or more this season. They breezed by Spring Hill on the road to the tune of 81-46. Given Summertown's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while Spring Hill is ranked 322nd), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Kurt Burleson was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 12 rebounds. The matchup was his eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cason Blackwood, who scored 16 points along with 5 rebounds.

Moore County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Summertown, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.

Moore County came up short against Summertown in their previous meeting back in November of 2021, falling 71-60. Thankfully for Moore County, Gavin Burleson (who dropped a double-double on 34 points and 10 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
