Baseball Recap: Wantagh Takes a Loss

Wantagh and Sayville squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Wantagh had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Golden Flashes by a score of 1-0. The game marked the first time this season in which the Warriors were not able to get on the board.

Christian Danzilo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

Wantagh's defeat dropped their record down to 23-6. As for Sayville, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.

Wantagh does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sayville, they will take on Marlboro Central at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Dukes will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Golden Flashes surely won't give up without a fight.
