Basketball Recap: Jameson Beaman's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Oconto Falls over Waupaca

Oconto Falls lost against Waupaca back in February and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Oconto Falls Panthers fell to the Waupaca Comets 54-49. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Panthers came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while the Comets are ranked 248th).

Oconto Falls lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jameson Beaman, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards. What's more, Beaman also racked up three steals, the most he's had since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Jj Pytleski, who posted ten points and five rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Oconto Falls and nudges their season record down to 4-3. As for Waupaca, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oconto Falls and Oconto will round out the year against one another at at 2:00 p.m. on December 28th. As for Waupaca, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Winneconne at 7:00 p.m. on December 30th. Winneconne knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matches -- so hopefully Waupaca likes a good challenge.
