Softball Recap: Lake Norman Beats East Forsyth for Their Fourth Straight Victory

It's playoff time, and Lake Norman had no trouble coming through when it counted. Everything went their way against the East Forsyth Eagles on Tuesday as they made off with a 7-1 win. Winning may never get old, but the Wildcats sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Charlee Kelly spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Avery Evans was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those five stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Wolf, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Lake Norman kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in seven consecutive contests.

Lake Norman pushed their record up to 16-9 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for East Forsyth, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-12 record this season.

Lake Norman will face off against Weddington on Friday. The Warriors' pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them. East Forsyth does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
