Basketball Recap: University City falls despite strong effort from Dylan Griffin

Basketball Recap: University City Centurions vs. Scripps Ranch Falcons

It was a good run, but the University City Centurions unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell to Scripps Ranch 63-59. University City was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.

Despite the loss, University City still got an impressive performance from Dylan Griffin, who shot 5-for-7 from deep and dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 rebounds. Griffin hasn't dropped below 15 points for nine straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyshaun Harris, who scored eight points.

University City's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-8. As for Scripps Ranch, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-10.

University City is on the road again on Saturday and plays the Cougars at 3:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Norco has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 323 points over their last four games. As for Scripps Ranch, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Storm at 7:30 p.m. on January 31st. High Tech SD will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1002nd, while the Falcons are ranked 282nd).
