Preview: Yankton Bucks/Gazelles vs. Huron Tigers
The Yankton Bucks/Gazelles will head out on the road to face off against the Huron Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Yankton is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
Last Friday, Yankton faced Aberdeen Central in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Yankton walked away with a 31-21 victory over Aberdeen Central.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Huron beat Mitchell 19-14 on Thursday.
Huron got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Colton Mcneil out in front who threw for 210 yards and three touchdowns on only 19 passes. Cashton Caudell and his 140 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Huron's victory.
Yankton's win was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-1. Even more impressive is the teams they beat to make that streak: Aberdeen Central, Tea, and Watertown. As for Huron, their win on Thursday bumped their record up to 4-4.
Everything came up roses for Yankton against Huron in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 42-14 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Yankton since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
