Recap: Weldon Valley Warriors vs. Arickaree Bison

This season hasn't been kind to the Weldon Valley Warriors, who are still winless after their fourth contest. They were beaten by Arickaree 55-13 on Tuesday. Weldon Valley was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-5.

Weldon Valley's loss came despite strong showings from Ellie Koch and Chloie Cuckow. Koch scored two points along with eight rebounds, while Cuckow scored no points. Those eight rebounds set a new season-high mark for Koch.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Weldon Valley struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Arickaree racked up 15 assists.

JANIYA SMITH continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Arickaree, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 13 steals. The game was SMITH's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of LILLY MONAT, who scored ten points along with three steals.

Weldon Valley's loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-4. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 18.8 points per game. As for Arickaree, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-2.

Weldon Valley will be home for the holidays to greet North Park at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Arickaree will take on Gilpin County in a holiday battle at 3:00 p.m. on Friday at. Gilpin County's defense has only allowed 29.6 points per game this season, so Arickaree's offense will have their work cut out for Arickaree.
