Basketball Recap: Vina Comes Up Short

Vina was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost to the Hackleburg Panthers at home by a 50-31 margin. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Red Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 63-28 back in December of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Vina saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Layla Hester posted 14 points and three steals. Hester is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 30 games she's played dating back to last season.

Vina's loss dropped their record down to 4-17. As for Hackleburg, their win bumped their record up to 10-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Vina will take on Brilliant at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hackleburg, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Hackleburg Panthers face off against the Hubbertville Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
