Baseball Game Preview: Carlmont Scots vs. Menlo-Atherton Bears

The Carlmont Scots will face off against the Menlo-Atherton Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Last Friday, Carlmont didn't have quite enough to beat Hillsdale and fell 3-2.

Carlmont saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Henry Massey, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Menlo-Atherton had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Gators a 9-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Menlo-Atherton also got a great performance from Wes Peterson as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Peterson has posted since March 1st.

At the plate, Merrick Lee was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Will Roberts, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Menlo-Atherton's win bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Carlmont, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Carlmont was able to grind out a solid victory over Menlo-Atherton in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 5-0. Does Carlmont have another victory up their sleeve, or will Menlo-Atherton turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
