Peru proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by three) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Beekmantown Eagles 3-2. The game was the first time the Nighthawks have beaten the Eagles on their court since November 5, 2022.
Peru got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the first set. The final score came out to 30-28, 20-25, 25-14, 12-25, 15-9.
Natalia Gushlaw-Mirville paced Peru's offense, picking up 12 kills. Gushlaw-Mirville got some help from Lily Siskavich and her 20 assists. Siskavich and Gushlaw-Mirville didn't slow down when it came to serving: they led the team with four apiece.
Peru now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Beekmantown, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
Coincidentally, Peru and Beekmantown will both be playing Plattsburgh the next time they take the court. The Eagles will host the Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Nighthawks will host them at 6:00 p.m. on the 25th.
