Basketball Game Preview: Shepherd Mustangs vs. Columbus Cougars

Shepherd is 0-10 against Columbus since January of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The Shepherd Mustangs will square off against the Columbus Cougars at 7:30 p.m. Shepherd will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Shepherd will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Joliet, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. Shepherd walked away with a 52-39 win over Joliet on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Columbus waltzed into their game on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They took down the Sheepherders 58-43.

Columbus has also been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for Shepherd, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Shepherd ended up a good deal behind Columbus when the teams last played back in January of 2024, losing 61-46. Can Shepherd avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
